Romney's ViewMitt Romney believes that the federal dollars going currently going into the high education system is driving up tuition costs. He also believes that new educational institutions should be created to provide advanced skills training. As president, Romney would "strengthen and simplify the financial aid system" while welcoming for-profit companies to participate in the education system. He also would remove regulation to encourage "innovation and competition" between schools.
Mitt Romney would cut government spending by repealing Obama's health care plan, privatizing Amtrak, reducing federal support of the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, and reducing foreign aid. Romney would also completely cut funding for Family Planning Funding, effectively eliminating Planned Parenthood and similar, government supported services. He would also give states more freedom to determine how they will fix their own economies. Romney is also very interested in saving money by streamlining the federal workforce through job and benefit cuts. Romney promises to create 12 million jobs in five different ways. He wants America to be energy independent while cutting trade with China and creating new markets for American goods. Romney also promises to make sure that the workforce has access to affordable and stellar education. He will cut the deficit by giving states more power to control their own programs. Romney wants to make an "across the board," 20% cut in marginal taxes. He also promises to eliminate what he calls the "Death Tax," as well as taxes on dividends and other such earnings for households making less than $200,000 a year. Romney also plans to repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax, which is a tax owed by some individuals, corporations, estates, and trusts. |
